Nelson (in Maori known as Whakatu) is a city located at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. Next to Tasman Bay, the city of Nelson is renowned in New Zealand for its art scene featuring locals and crafts stores and galleries. Nelson is a popular area for its incredible caving, wine region and stunning vineyards and the internationally recognised Abel Tasman National Park. Nelson was settled in 1841, Founders Heritage Park is a great place to see the history of Nelson showcased and it features a museum with a vintage railway!
